June 02 , 2008 - Our Summer Chill and Recording

Oh, you saying there's been a silence?? Nooo Wayyy!

We've just started work on new recordings, so new stuff will be up.. at some point - we WANT TO TAKE our TIME! So many things are rushed, because the world is just getting too fast paced... What, are humankind like hamster in a wheel? We don't think so!

So - CHILL, enjoy SUMMER, (naked) BODIES. Come to our gigs if you're around (next QUIRKY MUSIC NIGHT on August 30th, with lots of other performances before) or just keep ears pricked otherwise!

Drop a line - what's your best chill ever? Ours definitely is going to a music festival with all the extras your imagination put into it:)

February 29 , 2008 - Dark Quirky

So, we got spider-bitten. The music darkened. So did our appearance. In March, we're doing 3 gigs of various calibre as Dark Quirky. March 6th, 20th and 22nd.

March 22nd is the king of gigs - Dark Quirky headlining Goth Mayhem Live in Slimelight (7 Torrens Street, Angel) with support from Maxdmyz and Cryptonic Love Revival. Doors from 7:45, club night afterwards. www.slimelight.net

Will you join the spider?

November 05 , 2007 - We're back on December 15th!

After entertaining our wonderful audience in Camden’s Roundhouse on the first Saturday of November, we’re having a short brake – to get new ideas for fresh songs, to shop in Camden’s Lock, to learn few more animal noises and squirrel-dance moves and to be mischievous in every way we can.

We’re back on December 15th in Bull And Gate – the famous venue in Kentish Town. See you there!

October 01 , 2007 - Quirky Music Night in Roundhouse, Nov 3rd

We're headlining amazing night of trendy and quirky music, featuring the UK’s leading bands in style blending. Expect wild and unique artists – The Quirky, Rude Mechanicals and Bird Eats Baby.

The Quirky = us
www.myspace.com/thequirky

Rude Mechanicals - a Pan-Dimensional Creature manifesting itself in your reality as an Absurd Rock Band consisting of Miss Roberts and her symbiotic slaves. Post Punk Alt Funk Art Rock... maybe? Dancing, lessons in Toe Sucking, body fluid meditation and other therapies included…
www.myspace.com/flyingcaberet

Bird Eats Baby (as support act) - fantastic line up spiced up with violin and cello for fans of the darker side of music. Expect minor keys and quirky, waltz-like time signatures, combining the original style German and punk cabaret.

October 9 , 2007 - Recording - How It Went

Well, to start with good news: we've done 7 tracks, and that's more than we hoped. The whole recording process was quite ancient, on tapes (think The Beatles etc) - so no bloody editing!!! So we had to be good.

It went on for two days, and it went like this: Mike, the drummer, was trying to do his best takes ever; Oz, the bassist, was trying to hide his mistakes, Tim, the guitarist, was trying to be Jimmy Hendrix, and Zee was trying to keep them happy (the vocal takes are done after everything else, and she's good at entertaining).

The 7 tracks are on the "music" page.

September 11, 2007 - New Songs and Other Animals!

We’ve been working on new songs lately, so now our live performances will be spiced up with:

Little Boy – little boy, little boy, go to war: serve the world, be it’s toy!

Tired Spice – song written in Zanzibar.. so think of sea, sand, wind and a sudden storm..

Itchy Tits – about polyester world and it’s inhabitants

Properly Happy – green wings of hope under soldier’s boot, and I’ll never be properly happy again..

Also – recording session coming soon, so new new new recordings for your delight!

June 15, 2007 - Creativity. Thumbs Up

We decided to support fellow musicians by encouraging their unique creativity and introducing new interesting music to general listeners.

The project starts with the gig on June 30th in ‘Leonards’, 42 Northampton Road, EC1, followed by our participation in various festivals in and outside London (see gig list) over the rest of the summer and early autumn, and culminating with ‘Quirky Music Night’ in November. This night is intended to become a regular event afterwards.

Also, thinking of how to link musicians with their audience, we’ve set up ‘quirky music’ group on myspace, and this site has attracted over 1000 members within less than a week. We also intend to introduce new creative bands that deserve attention to the rest of the online community.

You’re very welcome to join it and share your own ideas, stuff you’ve heard, seen. Basically, it’s a meeting point for creative people.
